TMBC TODAY
On January 13, 2007 an arsonist, who was later apprehended, set fire to The
Memorial Baptist Church (TMBC). Damage ranged from water and smoke damage to
total destruction. It was estimated that it would take 1-1/2 to 2 years to
repair and again occupy the entire facility. Due to a large number of dedicated
people, good contractors, and careful planning, the office area was repaired and again occupied in
March, and shortly thereafter the Fellowship Hall was in use. The Preschool Wing
was ready by August, and on September 9th the two floors of the
Sunday School were occupied again for the first time. After a sojourn of 9
months, TMBC conducted services in its facilities, using the Fellowship Hall. The Sanctuary repair
was scheduled for completion by the end of the year and was completed in time
for our first service.
The first service in the Sanctuary was January 13, 2008. The TMBC congregation thanks God and praises his name for this remarkable
achievement. The TMBC staff and congregation also thank and will be eternally
grateful to the many churches who provided Preschool, Sunday School, and Worship
facilities during our sojourn and to the many individuals and organizations who
gave us support in both material and spiritual ways.
