Fourth Update

Hans Rosling of Gapminder. Shows the life expectancy at birth in years by Gross Domestic Product per person by country. So the countries that are above the USA (yellow circle) have greater life expectancy than we do although we have greater GDP than most. If this chart were to by synched with time it would show the period countries surpassed us as well as the rapid gains for China and India:

My CT came back clear. Yippee! The doctor said that it looked better than the last scan. She didn't even see any scar tissue from my two surgeries. Amazing. Also, even better,my blood tests are perfect. One of the tests is a CEA test. While it isn't solely used to indicate the evidence of disease, it is one of the tools used in monitoring. When I was first diagnosed it was 2.4. The average range is 0 to 2.5 for non smokers. This past March it was 1.4, in April 1.0 and yesterday 0.9. Woo Hoo! My next CT will be in November. I will have another colonoscopy in August. The hardest part to that is the prep. YUCK. Thank you for your well wishes. I enjoy reading messages from all of you. Enjoy your summer. I definitely will.
Love,
Shan

So much in 3 months

Today is the first day of summer and I am so glad it is here. I have been a little quiet with my care page because I have been out enjoying life! I had another surgery on May 12th to reverse my ileostomy. It is so nice not to have something attached anymore. It was a little harder recooperating from this one. I continued to have pain until a couple of days before I went back to work. I was out of work for 4 weeks. During that time, we were able to go to the beach with Jimmy's family. I soaked up a lot of Vitamin D. The best thing I did was put myself on a diet of no TV, no cell phone and no computer. Jim, Riley and I spent a lot of great quality time together. Today I had another CT as part of my monitoring. I will find out the results tomorrow. Keep me in your prayers. Take care and God bless.
