Have you ever been reading the Bible and come across a passage that makes you stop and say, “What does that mean?” Or perhaps you have wondered why a particular story, strange saying, unusual character, or seemingly obscure verse made its way into Scripture in the first place.
Join us for a new Bible Study, “Obscure Passages: Uncovering Some of the Bible's Hidden Meanings,” as we take a closer look at some of the more unusual, puzzling, and often overlooked passages.
Together, we will explore those places in Scripture that may leave us scratching our heads—but which often have much more to teach us than first meets the eye. We will consider the historical and cultural settings behind these passages, examine what biblical writers were communicating to their original audiences, and discover how these ancient texts can still speak meaningfully to our lives today.
This study will take us beyond the familiar stories and well-known verses and invite us to discover some of the hidden treasures tucked away in Scripture. Along the way, we may encounter passages that are surprising, humorous, mysterious, challenging, and even a little strange!
You do not need to be a Bible scholar to participate. Whether you have studied the Bible for years or simply find yourself curious about some of its more puzzling passages, there will be something for you.
Come bring your questions, your curiosity, and your Bible—and let's discover together what some of Scripture's most obscure passages have to say!
This study meets Wednesday Nights at 6:15pm, beginning September 16.
